TFA Tuesday - MediaPeruana's Warmbreeze family cardigans

warmbreeze1
Top Tier Knitter: MediaPeruana
Pattern: Coolbreeze Collection by me!
Yarn: TFA Warmbreeze Sweater Kit

I first spotted this lovely adult version of my Coolbreeze Cardigan pattern (done in the Warmbreeze palette) and thought that it was so nice that I'd love to feature it in a TFA Tuesday blog post. Then I jumped over the MediaPeruana's Ravelry project page and saw that she has also knit the wee version! That made my day. A family of gorgeous gradient cardigans, what more could you want? Both her adult and her baby version are gorgeous and bring me back to the days when Rowan still fit in his Baby Coolbreeze. I think it's about time I knit him another so we can be twinsies again!

TFA Tuesday - MrsEaves' Woodhollow

woodhollow3
Top Tier Knitter: MrsEaves
Pattern: Woodhollow Hat and Mitts by Kirsten Kapur.
Yarn: TFA Green Label Aran Weight in Chris Grey.

This set makes me want to stop everything I'm working on and knit an awesome pair of cabled mitts with a coordinating hat. The pattern is so pretty and simple and crisp and perfect. This is the sort of pattern that would look great in any colour and could certainly add a pop of colour to a dull winters wardrobe if worked in a brighter hue, but I am so in love with the subtle, modern, laid back feel of this set in Chris Grey. So chic.

Oh, and the pom-pom doesn't hurt either! Just look at that shot. Sheer hat knitting perfection!

TFA Tuesday - Sople Pattern by Lete's Knits

sople1
Top Tier Knitter/Designer: Justyna Lorkowska aka Lete's Knits (blog)
Pattern: Sople by Justyna herself!
Yarn: TFA Yellow Label DK Weight Yarn in Frost

A little while back, Justyna sent me a bunch of sketches and asked me to pick my favourite and in turn she would turn said sketch into a beautiful knitting pattern featuring my yarn! I picked my fave, a sketch for a lovely cardigan with the most awesome cable details all over. We chatted yarns, again, I suggested my favourite colour and Justyna was game. She sent me updates about the design throughout, let me know how things were coming along, so you'd think I would have been prepared for how gorgeous this finished knit is, but when the photo's of the final product showed up in my inbox, I was floored!
sople4
The shoulder details, the hem and cuff details and then that stunning back panel! I love seeing all that attention to detail. This is the type of knit that I was just saying I was missing from my collection. A lighter weight (not aran weight!) cardigan that I could layer over just about anything.

Justyna has several designs that fit the bill actually, I've been eyeing her Shifting pattern for some time, I would live in that sweater! Check out her Ravelry pattern's page, it's worth it!

TFA Tuesday - Multicolour Mystic

1Dec.3
Top Tier Knitter: janalukas
Ravelry Project page here
Pattern: Mystic Delight by Anna Dalvi.
Yarn: TFA Blue Label in Sunset, Chris Grey and Truffle (the red is a lovely non-TFA yarn)

Designer Anna Dalvi hosted a pretty great mystery KAL earlier this year featuring a shawl design that used 2 colourways of TFA Red label Cashmere/Silk Single ply yarn. The KAL churned out lots of great FO's, but this one really caught my eye because of the beautiful colour's Jane chose. She's upped the anti by using not just 2, but 4 stunning colourways. It looks like it was meant to be this way, the colours fit so naturally within the lace motifs. The finished shawl is generously sized and looks so incredibly cozy.

TFA Tuesday - I Heart Cardigans

Top Tier Knitter: bethhunt
Ravelry Project page here
Pattern: I Heart Cardigans by Tanis Lavallée
Yarn: TFA Green Label in Royal Flush.

This week's TFA Tuesday is a shockingly beautiful sweater knit by one very talented knitter (check out her project page for oodles of impressive sweaters!) It's no secret that I love this sweater pattern, and seeing it knit up so perfectly in this bright pinky red Royal Flush colourway makes me smile from ear to ear! Though I am fond of the occasional neutral, I love a knitter who isn't afraid of bold colour! This sweater takes this casual cozy cardigan to a whole new level.

TFA Tuesday - Brocade Cardi

Brocade1
Top Tier Knitter - Juls

Ravelry Project Page here

Pattern: Grellow Cardigan by Amy Gunderson
Yarn: TFA Blue Label Fingering Weight yarn in Brick and Velvet

Hello beautiful! This sweater is an absolute stunner. My jaw is officially dropped. I've never tackled a fingering weight, all-over stranded colourwork sweater before, but this one makes me want to. The shawl collar and the curved hem-line make this cardigan feel like a total classic to me, while I think the graphic flower motif lends a really modern feel. I just love it. Julia chose two beautiful autumnal colourways for this project, Brick and Velvet. The colours work together so nicely. I used a similar colour combo (Sunset and Velvet) in a sweater a few years ago and I'm still crazy about how the tones play off of each other. Beautiful, inspiring work Julia!

TFA Tuesday - Warm-Hearted Mittens

warmhearted1
Top Tier Knitter/designer: Rose Hiver
Ravelry Pattern page here
Yarn: TFA Purple Label in Velvet & Gold and Royal Flush & Frost.

I am a big fan of Rose Hiver's gorgeous colourwork designs. Her Ravelry patterns store is full of stunning sock and mitten stranded knitting patterns. Her latest design, her Warm-Hearted Mittens is published in the most recent edition of Knitty and they are a knockout. My favourite design in this issue for sure. I love the crisp geometric patterning, and the colours she's chosen... both versions are beautiful. I can't decide which I like best. It kind of feels like the sort of pattern that I should knit as a gift. How nice would it be for someone I love to open a box containing these awesome cashmere sweetheart mitts?

TFA Tuesday - Reverb

reverb1

Top Tier Knitter: Prairie-Knitter
Ravelry Project page here
Pattern: Reverb by Tanis Lavallée
Yarn: TFA Green Label in Lucky Penny.

This is an exciting project for me. My original Reverb cardigan was knit in the lovely Brooklyn Tweed Shelter yarn. When the pattern was published I secretly hoped that someone would knit a version in TFA Green Label. Melissa (aka: Prairie-Knitter) has done just that! But she's taken it one step further by knitting it in one of my newer colourways, Lucky Penny. It's always exciting to see such gorgeous projects pop up on Ravelry in new colourways. Rumour has it Melissa has a pile of another new colourway, Iris, sitting around waiting to become something awesome. Can't wait!

TFA Tuesday - Blue Skies

Cobaltscarf1

Top Tier Knitter: Carolynh
Pattern: Cerus Scarf by Hilary Smith Callis
Yarn: TFA Blue Label in Natural, Midnight and Cobalt.

This scarf is especially neat for two reasons; the first is that this clever knitter took a lovely linen stitch scarf pattern and turned it 90 degrees to make the stripe sequences run bottom to top rather than side to side. Second, the stripes are asymmetrical, gotta love asymmetrical knits that don't follow the rules! And third (I know, I said there were only two reasons but really there are three!) the third and most cool thing about this scarf is that it was knit for a really interesting project that paired Canadian knitters with Canadian authors, challenging the knitter to create a knit that reflected a given book. Read more about the FictionKNITsta project here, and see this scarf in action at an event here

TFA Tuesday - Calliope's Odyssey

Calliope2
Top Tier Knitter: liftoh
Pattern: Calliope's Odyssey by Rosemary (Romi) Hill
Yarn: TFA Blue Label Fingering Weight in Deep Sea and Dove

Romi Hill is known for designing gorgeous shawls, and the Calliope's Odyssey pattern is clearly no exception. What I really love about this pattern is that it combines two colourways in a really interesting way. We all love striped shawls, but combining the lace with the geometric colourwork is so inventive. Liftoh has chosen to use two of my favourite colours for her version and the results are stunning. I love this shawl.

TFA Tuesday - Nola Jane

Nola Jane1
Top Tier Knitter: KNITulescu
Pattern: Nola Jane by Annika Barranti
Yarn: TFA Blue Label Fingering Weight in Sunset

Finding adorable baby girl patterns is not hard. There are so many out there, each cuter than the next. Finding one that is special, original and one of a kind? That's a bit trickier. The Nola Jane pattern is just that. KNITelescu's version was the one that introduced me to this pattern, and I think that it's just so neat. A simple pullover but with all that extra detail at the yoke. Not lace, not cables, but awesome ruffly texture. I love it! The next time I need a gift for a baby girl, I think I'm going to give this pattern a try.

TFA Tuesday on a Wednesday! - Vivid Blanket

vivid1
Yarn: TFA Palette in the Signature Colourway, plus 2 skeins of Yellow Label DK Weight Natural.

Just look at this stunner of a blanket. This is exactly the sort of thing that I hoped people would do with my Palettes. Pick a gorgeous colourful project, pick your favourite Palette, and go to town! Obviously I love the Signature Palette, but as Alexa points out in her blog post about this blanket, this would be gorgeous in any combination of colours really. I love the pretty lace panels bordered by squishy garter stitch, and I know for a fact that you can never have too many blankets with a baby in the house.

Alexa has put together an awesome Vivid Blanket tutorial on her blog, definitely worth checking out if you plan on knitting up one of these beauties for yourself.

TFA Tuesday - Freesia

freesia
Top Tier Knitter: JumperCables
PatternFreesia by JumperCablesKnitting
Yarn: TFA Yellow Label DK Weight yarn in Brick
Ravelry Project page here

Such a beautiful DK weight shawl. Warm and cushy, this thing would feel amazing wrapped around your shoulders. Annie, aka: JumperCables on Ravelry, is both the knitter and designer of this gorgeous shawl. I find it difficult sometimes to find patterns for shawls/scarves that are warm enough for our frigid Canadian winters yet still interesting to knit and stylish to wear, this design hits all the marks for me. Simple, graphic, perfect. And even though I don't typically consider Brick to be a summery colourway, I love the way that it looks like fiery embers from a bonfire in these photos. Almost glowing!

TFA Tuesday - Cloud Illusions

CloudIllusions2
Top Tier Knitter: Forget-Me-Knit
Pattern: Cloud Illusions by Boo Knits
Yarn: TFA Red Label Cashmere/Silk Single in Natural.
Ravelry Project page here

When I spotted this shawl on Ravelry the other day it completely took my breath away and I knew that I wanted to share it. It's so light and airy. Knit up in the Red Label yarn this shawl looks incredibly soft and lush. This knit was the inspiration for yesterday's Natural moodboard. I am so drawn to bright, saturated colours that I sometimes forget how perfect a neutral, natural knit can be. Light as a cloud!

TFA Tuesday - Modified Gemini

GeminiCollage
I'm sure that you've all seen the super popular and super lovely Gemini Tee design by Jane Richmond published in the Spring/Summer 2012 issue of Knitty. Well, this is Jane's modified version of her own pattern. She's switched up the summery cotton yarn for TFA Yellow Label DK Weight in Olive and added 3/4 length sleeves. And I have to say, I'm crazy about her mods. As you may have noticed, I don't knit much with summery yarns, I'm a wool girl. And probably because of that I don't knit many summery knits. I've knit 1 cotton tank and I wore it maybe once or twice just out of a sense of obligation. Jane's mods are right up my alley. All the beauty of the original design, the impact is all in the yoke after all,  but with the Tanis friendly 3/4 length sleeves to make it totally wool appropriate.

Jane has provided notes on her Ravelry project page so you too can make your very own 3/4 sleeve Modified Gemini.
gemini2
Great job Jane! This is now on my list of things to knit. I'm trying to narrow down my colour choices, it's a tough call. I'm considering Iris, because it's new and pretty and I just can't get enough of it. Or frogging this knit, which I intend to frog either way, and using this really pretty One Of A Kind colourway to knit my very own Modified Gemini. What do you think?

TFA Tuesday - Jettshin's Painter's Palette

DSC_0729

The super talented Jettshin test knit my Coolbreeze Cardigan pattern for me. One scroll through her Ravelry project page and you can see why I was thrilled that she was keen to work with me. Her project page is like an art gallery of perfectly tailored knits. She can take just about any pattern and make it look like it was made just for her!

I opted to have the test knit done in a the Rusty Palette with Sand as the main colour. I thought that it would be neat to see how the pattern/colour worked out with a warm palette on a light background (as opposed to the cool palette on the dark background of my blue version). I found this photo of her sweater in progress in my inbox one day and my jaw hit the floor. I love this warm version just as much as my original!

I'm convinced that any of my Palettes would be beautiful in the yoke of this sweater. I have plans to knit myself another, maybe in this colour combo? Or maybe using the Jewel Palette! Choosing a colourway is always one of the hardest parts, which is why I've made it easy for you by making up the Coolbreeze Sweater kits

What Palette would you chose for your Coolbreeze Cardigan?

TFA Tuesday - North Shore

NorthShore2

TFA Tuesday is back! For today at least. I saw this awesome sweater on ravelry, wanted to blog it, realized it was Tuesday, so bang! TFA Tuesday it is.

You all know I love this adorable little sweater (I've knit it twice), part of the "9 Months of Knitting" pattern collection by Tincanknits. Well, they've recently released another pattern collection called "Pacific Knits" and this time there is a pattern knit in TFA yarn!

NorthShore1

The North Shore pullover features Yellow Label DK Weight yarn in the most interesting combination of west coast colours. I love the waves, trees and mountain range fair isle motif. I fancy myself an east coast girl at heart, but I could definitely be swayed by this west coast look.

TFA Tuesday: PikaCatnip Socks

 Pattern: Catnip Socks

TFA Yarn and Colourway: Blue Label Fingering Weight in 'Sunset'

Top Tier Knitter: Jen (Ravelry ID, blog)

Totally Awesome Because: You know, I sometimes feel a little sorry for non knitters. Non knitters don't know how awesome it is to have lace socks. Especially handmade lace socks that are done up in a gorgeous colour like Sunset. Jen's socks are awesome- they are really what great hand knit socks should be- a work of art! Her project page with lots more photos can be found here.

TFA Tuesday: Snowstorm

Pattern: Driven

TFA Yarn and Colourway: Green Label Aran weight in 'Sand'

Top Tier Knitter: Tammy (Ravelry ID)

Totally Awesome Because: Classic, timeless cardigans like this deserve a classic, timeless colour like Sand, which is the perfect balance between grey and cream and pretty much goes with everything. I love everything Tammy chose to do with this knit- the effortless styling just looks so perfect when you've got a gorgeous, comfy cardigan like this to wear during the chilly months. I want one now, too! Her project page can be found here.

TFA Tuesday: Cria

Pattern: Cria

TFA Yarn and Colourway: Yellow Label DK Weight, in 'Shadow'

Top Tier Knitter: Yvonne ( Ravelry ID)

Totally Awesome Because: I love everything about this sweater- the fit is great, the colours are gorgeous, and the sleeve detail is flawless- look at those perfect buttons, like little moons on the sleeve. This sweater makes me fall in love with the Shadow colourway all over again!  Details on her project can be found here.
