Spring hat

Spring Swallows inside out

I'm almost ready to unveil my first ever for sale pattern collection. Y'know those slouchy hats I've been obsessed with? My collection will include one template, with four different motifs, one for each season. I've already shown you fall and winter, and here's a peak at spring. Spring features swallows. I knit the sample in my favorite colour palette. I'm very happy with it, however now that I'm looking at that inside out photo, I'm thinking it looks so good that maybe I should knit another one with the colours reversed! Right side out I've got blue birds on a white background, and bright lime green leaves on a mallard green background, but the reverse looks pretty rad don't ya think?

  2. Beautiful! Question about colourwork: how many stitches before you carry over your yarn? Do you knit colourwork with both hands? I'm making another pair of Fiddlehead Mittens and I'm working on continental knitting.

  3. Hi Heather,

I don't knit colourwork with both hands, I have in the past but for me it's just not any faster, and is less comfortable. Depending on the pattern and yarn that I'm knitting with I tend not to carry my floats for more than 7 sts. For mittens, where fingers could get caught in floats I would keep the floats shorter than say a hat, where there isn't much risk of floats snagging.

  4. Thanks Tanis. I appreciate the help. I'm still not sure about the continental knitting but I think it's the learning curve. I'll keep at it and make a decision when I'm done. I'm lining these mitts so I'm less worried about the possibility of snagging. Thanks again!

  5. About your previous post, we have been thinking about getting either a Whippet or Italian Greyhound, so I like seeing your pictures of Stella (even if she was getting in your way)

  7. To Melina, we LOVE our whippet, get one! You won't regret it! Soooo snuggly and lovable!

To Joanne, Yes! When the patterns are all ready there will be kits to go with them! Hopefully all will be revealed in the next couple of weeks.
