One of a Kind Etsy shop and a GIVEAWAY!

It's been almost a year now since I launched my own website. Before that I was on Etsy, and though I LOVE Etsy it does have some limitations. A year later and my website is still running smoothly and going strong, however I'm missing the flexibility that Etsy offers for limited quantity products. Anyways, a roundabout way of saying that I have re-launched my Etsy site to feature all kinds of wonderful One of a Kind skeins of yarn.

I've got several boxes of yarns that I selfishly stash away for my own personal use. Chris and I both love to take a day off once in a while from dying our permanent collection colourways and experiment with new ones. Sometimes they work out perfectly and fit into my grand plan for the collection and are added to the repertoire. Other times they are lovely and perfect but just don't quite fit in to the TFA scheme. These are the precious skeins that I hoard away. Sometimes I give one or two to my mom or sister, but most of them I end of saving for myself! I have so many and there is no possible way that I could knit them all, so I've decided it's time to share. That's where the Etsy site comes in. I'll post One of a Kind colourways as I make them in very limited quantities, batches of one, two or three skeins, mostly in sock yarn because that's what I experiment with the most, and hopefully there will be some TFA fans out there who like the thrill of knitting with yarn that is absolutely One of a Kind!

I've also listed the Kits on the Etsy site, because kits are fun! I will also be adding rovings and other yarn bases as I dye them. I'm really looking forward to having the freedom to be as creative as I want to be! Crazy yarns, subtle yarns, whatever I feel like. No rules, just pretty yarns.

So, that brings us to the part in the post that you've all been waiting for... the GIVEAWAY! I'll be giving away one skein of this lovely green, yellow, brown yarn called Spring to one lucky commenter. To enter, simply leave a comment telling me your favorite colour and be sure to include your e-mail address so I can get ahold of you should you win. I will announce a winner next Saturday. Good luck!

  2. Oh, Tanis, what BEAUTIFUL yarn!
My favourite colour IN GENERAL changes depending on my mood. It used to be green, some days it's orange, but lately, I've been moving towards turquoise.
Of your colourways, my favourites right now are Stormy and Sunset. :)

  3. Pick my favorite color? That's like trying to pick my favorite kid (if I had any!) I love working with your yarns and have been thinking about ordering more...

  4. Hello Tanis,I just finished the shawl for my daughter out of your Deep Sea fingering weight. It was so springy and a pleasure to knit with. Two of my favorite colors are purple and apple green. I can't get over the amount of items you have knit. Your striped cardigan looks amazing. I find that's the hardest thing is making a sweater fit right. Cheers, tinamak13@hotmail.com

  5. For me, it's all about the turquoise. Half the things I own are in this colour... I can't help it; it looks so nice with my hair.

I'm also very excited to see the fun unique stuff you'll be posting on Etsy. Yay!

I guess I can say that my favorite color changes...with season, with mood, with whatever....
Currently I think I would have to say that russets and copper are the favs. I have never found the perfect copper colored yarn, however. Still looking.

Even at my wedding, our main colour was green, all the girls' dresses were green... it's the best! 52. Thanks so much for the chance Tanis. I'm a recent newcomer to your blog and am really enjoying it. I always thought I was of the purple/blues/turquoise genre but the more I knit, and the more socks I knit, I realize that I also love greens/yellows/navy/greys although I still prefer the cool undertones. Red - not so much. I love single skein ideas - they're something a gal can wrap her mind (and needles) around lol. Thanks for sharing. (mjohnson5667@gmail.com)

    ReplyDelete
  53. Red has been my favourite colour for most of my life. My 4 year old son shares this love of red and I often give up my choice of red cups/plates... to him. Since reading your blog I've become more interested in different shades of blues and I'm about to start on a pair of light lavender socks. Even with the whole variety in the rainbow, RED is always the winner in my books.

Etsy is a great idea. Looking forward to checking out your site.

I coveted 'Olive' for a very long time, long enough to see your shop go into hibernation before I decided to get it. :( But I have love for 'Stormy' too, because it sounds much like my favorite lake in all the world -- Lake Superior.

Of course, you do such beautiful purples, too....

Congrats on re-launching the Etsy store! I'll be very interested to see what kinds of experiments you come up with!

  63. What gorgeous yarn! I'm off to your Etsy shop next, but first my favourite colour is... blue. I love them all, really, but I always seem to come back to various shades of blue. (A quick glance in my stash closet totally gives me away as a blue fanatic.)

  101. I love dyeing yarn (as in my most recent blog post), but since it's on a kitchen-stove scale, using whatever containers are handy, I am limited to working with one or two skeins at a time. While I often wish I could repeat some colorways, I really enjoy the uniqueness of each skein. I'm sure your one-offs will be very well received in the etsy shop. As much as I love blue, it seemS to be the least often used color in my dying. Go figure, eh?

  102. I love all sorts of warm red-purple-pink-violet-burgund-pretty colours and all sorts of yummy blues. (I cannot make up my mind about your colourways, I want them all.) But I knit mostly for others, and I would love to win the springcoloured one for a springy gift.
