My Favorite colour in the world... right now.

My gorgeous Hydrangea

This is the absolutely breathtaking hydrangea that lives on my front stoop, right by my front door. You saw snippets of it here on my mother's day post. I didn't think that it was possible, but the colours seem to be getting richer, darker, brighter, more magnificent with each passing day.

My gorgeous Hydrangea

I'm doing my absolutely best to take very good care of it. It's currently in a big pot and my plan is to transplant it into my front garden at the end of the summer, hoping it will come back next spring just as beautiful.

  1. That is an stunningly beautiful colour. One of absolute favourites, right up there with bluebells.

I'm now wondering why I don't have any yarn in that colour in my stash.

  2. Hydrangeas are quit lovely. See my closeup shot of one of these beauties. I just had to capture the subtle colors. Now it pink. Yours is fabulous - what a deep calming wow blue to welcome guests to your home. This plant is quickly becoming one of my favorites.

  4. Please tell me you've held a skein of Ultraviolet up to the hydrangea for comparison!!

  8. It's stunning!

...did you know that the colour of a hydrangea is determined by the pH of the soil it's growing in!

  10. I'm so jealous of you! My hydrangea hasn't bloomed yet this spring. It's not potted though, it's already in the flower bed. I can see that it's getting ready to but I keep telling it, "Come on! It's almost June!"

  12. What Jane said is true. A hydrangea in a pot may be a different color in the soil! Be sure to use as much of the pot soil when you plant it in the ground. What is a beautiful violet shade this year may be pink next year!
    It really is lovely!

  16. What beautiful pops of color. Just awesome. You'll have to take pics next year and contrast the color season-to-season.
